Y In this study the frequency of Salmonella species in tortoises and frogs in Istanbul, which could be a source of infection for humans was investigated. Salmonella seroty pes were isolated in two of the eight tortoises (25 %). One of the isolated serotypes was Salmonella tscnangv (6, 8:e,h: e,n,zl5), which is a rarely isolated Salmonella serotype and was isolated for the first time in Turkey. The other serotype belonged to Salmonella subgroup II. and had the antigenic formula of (41: 210: 1.2). In this study Salmonella species was not isolated from any of the 55 frogs. 48en_US
